Regexes are the epitome of cool and fun tech tool that is completely inaccessible for no other reason than tech people actively harm learnability just to feel smarter than other people

Are you serious? I think regexpes are used because they are trade-off between terse notation and power...
Can you point me to any alternative that is easier to learn and are not overly verbose?
@TeddyDD I can see the benefits of the current regex format, but I don't see how anyone can really be expected to learn them
I think I might be over-reacting, but my point is, whenever people complain about how hard something is to learn, the response is often "git gud, it's this way because it's objectively better"
